The Petrino Family Foundation was established on June 19, 2014 by Louisville football coach Bobby Petrino and his family. Our pledges are all close to our hearts and provide us with a way to inspire action, create change, and improve lives in this city and community.

Kosair Children’s Hospital:

Kosair Children’s Hospital serves children throughout Kentucky and Southern Indiana, making it a true asset to this state and region. The Petrino Family Foundation’s first grant is through the Children’s Hospital Foundation for $1 Million to support the Trauma Program at Kosair Children’s Hospital. This grant will establish the Petrino Family Trauma Room in the emergency department. Kosair Children’s Hospital is the region’s only level 1 pediatric trauma center who sees more than 60,000 children a year for emergency care.  Providing this level of care requires resources such as specialists to provide the care and the equipment that will fit the smallest infant to the adult-sized teenager.  The number of children needing emergency and trauma care is alarming, and the Petrino Family Foundation is happy for the opportunity to help this care continue.

PFF Scholarship:

In addition to Kosair Children’s Hospital, the Petrino Family Foundation established the Petrino Family Foundation Scholarship that will be funding a Cardinal Covenant Scholarship. The program provides full scholarships to Kentucky’s most economically disadvantaged students—those whose families live at or below 150 percent of the federal poverty line. The University of Louisville will make a promise to incoming freshmen who meet the following criteria to award enough gift assistance from federal, state, private, and institutional sources to cover their direct costs (tuition, room, board, and books). Students will be able to graduate debt free as long as they graduate within four years and remain Pell Grant eligible each year.

UofL Marching Band:

The Petrino Family Foundation provided a donation towards the purchase of brand new uniforms for the University of Louisville Band in 2014. The PFF realizes that the band plays a huge role in the University of Louisville sporting events. Whether it is a regular season game, Homecoming, or the Allstate Sugar Bowl, the presence of the band brings about an instant feeling of school spirit and pride amongst the students, alumni, and die-hard fans in Papa Johns Cardinal Stadium.
